First win for new coach Seoane - Bayer Leverkusen dismantles Gladbach:

Bayer Leverkusen wins 4-0 against Borussia Mönchengladbach in their own stadium. Almost everything goes wrong with the guests.

In the duel between the former Bernese master coaches, Gerardo Seoane celebrated a perfect home premiere in the Bundesliga.

The new coach won with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday against Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-0 (2-0) and thus came to the first victory with his new team.

Gladbach's new head coach Adi Hütter, who was the predecessor of Seoane at the Swiss champions Young Boys Bern, remained without a win in the second game with Borussia.

The goals for Bayer were scored by Gladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer (3rd / own goal), Patrik Schick (8th), Moussa Diaby (55th) and Nadiem Amiri (87th) in front of 15,105 spectators. Bayer goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky also saved a penalty against Lars Stindl (43.).

Even among the new coaches, the competition between the European Cup applicants should be an offensive spectacle. In the previous 78 direct duels, an average of 3.35 goals was scored.

Spectacular results like 8: 2, 6: 3, 5: 2 or 4: 3 were there - only six times there was a 0: 0, the last 17 years ago. Both Seoane and Hütter prefer a bold, forward-looking game.

Therefore, after the 1-1 opener against FC Bayern Munich, Borussia's coach also changed his attack direction and brought additional momentum and speed into the game with Marcus Thuram and Jonas Hofmann.

Thuram had to go out again after 20 minutes, Hannes Wolf came for him. But the offensive accents were mainly set by the hosts, with only Paulinho joining the team and newcomer Robert Andrich from Union Berlin only coming on in the final phase.

A long-range shot by the new left-back Mitchel Bakker, who showed a good game, landed on the post and hit Gladbach's goalkeeper Sommer and from there into the goal.

It was the Swiss national goalkeeper's first Bundesliga own goal. Just five minutes later, it was the top scorer in the Czech Republic, Schick, who scored 2-0 from the edge of the penalty area for Bayer and for the third time against Mönchengladbach.

The fast deficit and Thuram's injury thwarted the plans of the guests, who found it difficult to find their rhythm and only had a good opportunity through Hofmann's long-range shot at the outside post (15th).

The hosts, on the other hand, always came over the wings with great speed and with early pressing to dangerous situations.

The unfortunate Gladbachers succeeded very little. Even a penalty that Bakker gave to Stefan Lainer, Stindl could not use.

Borussia's captain failed because of Bayer's captain Hradecky. In addition, right-back Stefan Lainer had to leave the field injured after the foul.

The agile Diaby, who caused a lot of danger on the right side, made it 3-0 with a deflected shot - so the ambitious Gladbachers were finally out of the race.

They also had to replace two other ailing professionals with Matthias Ginter and Alassane Plea.
