Luisa Neubauer Defends Herself Legally Against Hate Comments

German climate activist Luisa Neubauer:

Luisa Neubauer, known as an activist of the "Fridays for Future" movement, successfully defended herself in court against the right-wing author Akif Pirinçci, who had previously publicly insulted her.

Climate protection activist Luisa Neubauer took legal action against a hateful comment by right-wing populist author Akif Pirinçci.

The regional court in Frankfurt is Main issued an injunction against Pirinçci because of a Facebook post, as "Spiegel" reported on Wednesday, citing court documents.

Pirinçci commented on a photo of Neubauer's sexist humiliation. Due to the court ruling, the author had to take over the court and legal fees provisionally.

Neubauer also won a victory against Facebook before the Göttingen regional court. She had sued the company for seismically abusive posts. Facebook had to release the user's data.

Luisa Neubauer dissatisfied with the efforts of the tech companies:

Neubauer told the "Spiegel" that they defend themselves against hateful comments to show that inadmissible posts could have legal consequences.

She called for tech companies to do more to combat hate speech. She sees little progress, especially on Facebook.

It took too long for politicians to react to the threat of hate speech. Online hatred has consequences beyond the Internet, said Neubauer.

Misogyny describes a pathological hatred towards women. Often this takes the form of devaluation or insult. Scientific research into the phenomenon of misogyny began in the 1950s.
