Lukas Podolski

Lukas Podolski:

Lukas Podolski is facing a return to Turkey. The former football international will sign a contract with the first division club Antalyaspor until the end of the coming season, Turkish media reported last weekend.

Pictures of the tabloid "Hürriyet" showed the 34-year-old on arrival at the airport of the seaside resort Antalya amidst enthusiastic fans.

According to the report, the 2014 world champion and the relegation-threatening club have reached a basic agreement. Lukas Podolski played for Galatasaray Istanbul in the Turkish league from 2015 to 2017.

According to the "Express", Lukas Podolski decided to move to Turkey. He should sign a contract for one and a half years with Antalyaspor.

Podolski himself gave a hint about his new club on Twitter: he tweeted an aeroplane and a scorpion. The Antalyaspor team is also known as “scorpions” in Turkey.

The hope of the fans for a comeback at 1. FC Köln has been shattered. Lukas Podolski had offered the Bundesliga club to be available as a standby professional in the next year and a half.

The Cologne would have decided against it because of the already large number of attackers in the squad.

On Saturday, the Japanese first division club Vissel Kobe announced that the contract with Lukas Podolski, which expired at the end of January, was not to be extended. The striker had played for the cup winner in the past three years.
