AirPods Pro

AirPods Pro Unveiled:

Apple today unveiled the latest generation of its hugely successful headphones. The new Pro version offers noise cancellation for the first time and is available from Wednesday.

The rumour mill has been seething for weeks. Now Apple has introduced its latest audio product: the AirPods Pro.

Apple's first AirPods were mocked at their launch three years ago, initially due to their design on the net.

Today, Bluetooth wireless headphones are the best-selling headphones in the world, according to Apple.

While the previous Airpods were sold in only one size and without ear inserts, Apple turns away from the new Pro devices from this one-size-fits-all attitude.

AirPods Pro Unveiled

New silicone ear tips in three sizes:

The Airpods Pro will be delivered according to Apple with flexible silicone ear tips in three different sizes.

This offers a tight fit and a good seal. A special ventilation system ensures pressure equalization, which avoids the unpleasant feeling that many people experience.

The new headphones use two microphones to eliminate the outside noise as much as possible. The sound signal is continuously adjusted 200 times per second.

Suitable for sports and city traffic:

Like many other noise-cancelling headphones, the AirPods Pro offers active noise cancellation as well as a mode that makes ambient noise more audible.

Important about in traffic. Apple calls its transparency mode. The change between the two modes should be very easy according to Apple and can be made directly via a sensor on the lower part of the earphone.

Also new is that Apple protects the earphones against sweat and water. This is classified according to IPX4 protection, which means protection against splashing water. You should not go swimming with new headphones.

Battery life like AirPods around five hours

The battery should - as with the AirPods - provide a runtime of up to five hours in audio playback.

With activated noise suppression the running time amounts to still four and a half hours, with telephone calls up to three and a half hours.

The transport case also serves as a charging station and stores energy for a total of 24 hours of music or 18 hours of talk time.

The Apple AirPods Pro are available from Wednesday, October 30, for 279 €. The headphones require an iPhone with iOS version 13.2 or an iPad with iPadOS version 13.2 or later.

The AirPods Pro also works with watchOS 6.1, tvOS 13.2 and macOS Catalina 10.15.1 and newer versions together.

Apple introduces AirPods Pro - with active noise cancellation:

Apple launches a more expensive pro version of true wireless earphones. They are to provide a better sound and hide ambient noise.

Apple has announced a new lineup of popular Bluetooth earbuds that will soon be on the market. The AirPods Pro are visually oriented to Apple's in-ear headphones, but come off without a cable.

Unlike the AirPods, which are available in only one size, the AirPods Pro comes with three silicone inserts in various sizes, which adapt to the ear, as Apple announced on Monday evening.

AirPoids Pro with inserts in three different size:

When inserting, the AirPods Pro should check on its own whether the size of the selected inserts is correct to achieve a good seal.

In combination with the microphones of each AirPod, the sound level in the ear is measured and compared with what the loudspeaker driver outputs, the manufacturer explains - this happens within a few seconds.

A special ventilation system also ensures pressure equalization, reducing "the feeling of being unwell in other in-ear designs," the statement said.

The active noise cancellation (ANC) compensates for ambient noise, the sound signal is "continuously 200 times per second," according to Apple.

A transparency mode allows the user to bring back sounds from the environment into the audio playback.

This can be controlled via the iPhone or a new pressure sensor, which is attached to the bottom of the AirPods.

This also serves for further operation such as the music playback, as Apple executes. The sometimes awkward double-tapping on the AirPods itself is eliminated.

Apple's New Headphones

Assumed iOS 13.2

As with the AirPods Apple promises a battery life of up to 5 hours. With continuous active noise cancellation, the True Wireless earphones should play music for 4.5 hours or allow calls of up to 3.5 hours.

Charging takes place as usual from the AirPods via a supplied battery box, which can charge the earphones around five times completely, before it even has to power. The charging case is charged via Qi charging mat or Lightning plug.

Just like in the AirPods 2, Apple's H1 chip is used in the AirPods Pro, it brings Hey Siri support and also allows the simple coupling with your own Apple hardware. New is improved protection against splash water according to IP protection IPX4.

If you want to use the new Pro-AirPods, you need the latest software: You need at least iOS / iPadOS 13.2, watchOS 6.1 and macOS Catalina 10.15.1, the system updates are expected to be released this week for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

AirPods Pro can be pre-ordered for just under 280 euros and will be delivered from Wednesday, 30 October, but the delivery date has already moved to early November.

From the end of this week they are also found in some countries in the trade, so Apple.

According to the manufacturer, the price of the "normal" AirPods will not change, and they will continue to be available from just under € 180.

The Airpods Pro Active Noise Cancellation features two built-in microphones that continuously record sound from outside and inside.

In combination with software algorithms, the sound experience is constantly being individually adapted to the ear and headphones, Apple explains.

For a better fit in most ears, they come with flexible ear tips in three sizes. With a so-called "adaptive EQ" they should provide an "innovative active noise reduction"

And, if necessary, a transparency mode - music is automatically adapted to the ear shape, explains Apple.

The transparency mode is not new - other earplug models offer such a function to better perceive spoken and outside sounds

Airpods Pro - Apple announces true wireless earplugs with ANC:

Apple has officially launched its first Active Noise Canceling True Wireless earplugs: The AirPods Pro will be available on October 30th - and can be ordered now.

No October event, just a press release: The Airpods Pro with Active Noise Canceling (ANC) extends Apple's Hearable family. They can already be ordered for 279 and will be delivered from the end of October

Airpods Pro: Apple promises "immersive sound"

With the Airpods Pro Apple complements its in-ear earphone family. These are the company's first models with active noise cancellation and Apple's "high-quality, immersive sound."

They feature a specially designed high-excursion low-distortion woofer for "powerful bass", as well as a high-dynamic-range amplifier designed to deliver clean, clear sound and longer battery life.

As already leaked, they have no open, but an in-ear design, in which the earplugs protrude a bit into the ear canal.

To toggle between active noise reduction and transparency mode, a pressure sensor is attached to the AirPods.

According to Apple, this can be done by playing, pausing or skipping songs, as well as answering or hanging up phone calls. The volume control can also be operated via the control centre on the iPhone and iPad.

Airpods Pro will complement Airpods family:

According to Apple, the new Airpods will replace none of the existing products, but complement the family up.

In addition to the noise reduction, they also offer the current range of functions of Apple earplugs such as listening to music, making phone calls or watching TV series, films and more.

Needless to say, they activate Apple's language assistant with the hotkey "Hey Siri". They also connect by opening the charging case with iOS or iPadOS devices.

With a simple tap, the AirPods Pro can immediately pair with the devices stored in your iCloud account.

This is, inter alia, Apple's H1 chip on board, which also ensures low audio latency, says Apple.

The H1 has ten audio cores, according to Apple and is effectively the data centre of the earplugs to control audio playback to Siri.

According to Apple, the new Airpods Pro have the same playback time of five hours as the other Airpods models.

With active noise cancellation, the earplugs deliver up to four and a half hours of playback and up to three and a half hours of talk time.

Via the wireless charging case, the ANC AirPods can achieve 24 hours of playback or 18 hours of talk time. Protected against sweat and water, they are IPX4 rated - just like the Powerbeats Pro.
