Jeffrey Epstein, who was imprisoned for allegations of serious child abuse, has been found dead in his cell?

According to the authorities, the 66-year-old entrepreneur and billionaire have taken his own life. The New York Attorney's Office recently accused Epstein of abusing dozens of minor girls.

The accused had built an illegal sex trade ring in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005, according to the indictment.

Some of the girls were only 14 years old and had been attracted cash by large sums of money. Epstein had not pleaded guilty.

Spicy is that Epstein last probably under special observation. In July he had been found injured on the floor of his cell.

He is said to have had bruises on his neck and been almost unconscious. It was unclear at the time whether Epstein had inflicted the injuries himself or was attacked.

The prison he most recently met, the Metropolitan Correctional Center, is known for its strong security and well-known inmates, including terrorists, corporate criminals and, most recently, Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.

US Labor Secretary Acosta had to leave:

Just over a month ago, US Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta resigned in the abuse scandal surrounding Epstein.

The background was a controversial deal more than ten years ago, which saved the entrepreneur a trial before a federal court - and the Acosta as then prosecutor in Florida agreed.

The prolific businessman Epstein escaped federal trial in 2008 for allegations of abuse by entering into an agreement with the state prosecutor to protect him from further investigation.

At the time, Epstein pleaded guilty to providing clients with underage prostitutes and served a 13-month prison sentence, sometimes in relaxed conditions.

In return, he came without trial before a federal court. Ultimately, Epstein escaped life imprisonment for the deal.
